This is our spam / virus filter update for customers on the mx1 / mx2.tnpw.net filtering cluster. The information is brought to you by our vendor, SpamExperts.

What's new this week:

Improvements to the whitelisting and blacklisting actions in protection reports

Email messages work like paper ones in that the message is put inside of an "envelope", and the envelope sender or recipient doesn't necessarily have to match the sender or recipient of the actual message. Normally, when you whitelist or blacklist a recipient or sender, you are whitelisting or blacklisting the address both on the envelope and in the message itself. This week, we have adjusted the whitelisting and blacklisting actions in the protection reports so that they only apply to the envelope sender.

The advantage of this change is that because this can be checked much earlier in the message delivery process, we are able to handle the connection more efficiently, and avoid needing to handle separate messages in separate connections.

Changelog:

Filtering (services):
  • Optimisations to our update systems. (#26491)
  • A new parameter, sender_flag, is now available for api_whitelist_sender, api_whitelist_local_part_sender, api_blacklist_sender, api_blacklist_local_part_sender.  This allows choosing where the list should be applied and can be either envelope sender, from header or both. (#28078)
  • Senders whitelisted or blacklisted from the protection report will now only apply on the envelope header instead of both the envelope sender and from header. (#28078)
Front-end / GUI:
  • Optimisations to the "Dashboard" page (#24409)
  • Fixed handling of invalid value provided for the `domains` argument for several Spampanel API calls (#28721)
  • Resolved specific permission issue on generated documentation (#28820)
Plugins & Integration tools:
  • APS2: Resolved issue caused by incorrect case-sensitive usernames comparison (#28765)
