This is our spam / virus filter update for customers on the mx1 / mx2.tnpw.net filtering cluster. The information is brought to you by our vendor, SpamExperts.

What's new this week:

Train messages from Microsoft Outlook in the web interface:

If the filtering system makes a mistake, and delivers a spam message, then it’s extremely valuable if this error is reported.  We have automated systems that will analyze why the message was missed, and adjust the systems so that similar messages should be caught in the future, and we also have teams of people that manually review the messages to check what other adjustments we should be making.

We provide several methods to provide this feedback.  The web interface has long had the ability to upload spam (or not-spam, for anyone with the quarantine disabled) for training.  However, until now, that has only accepted the standard “eml” (RFC 5322) messages that the majority of email systems use.  With this build, we’ve also added the ability to upload “msg” messages, which Microsoft Outlook produces, so you can also report messages in the web interface if you are an Outlook user.
